If you haven’t been here before, this open-air shopping pavilion is conveniently located at the traffic circle where Kiawah Island, Johns Island, and Seabrook Island meet. Like we mentioned in our Kiawah Island bike guide, this is one of our favorite biking destinations for a daytime adventure and happens to have some of the best restaurants in the area! Plus, you’ll find everything you need moments from Kiawah’s first security gate — the local grocery store, unique boutique shops, coffee shops, ice cream, fun seasonal events, and more. We couldn’t choose between all the great restaurants at Freshfields Village, so we’ll let you decide.

FortyEight – Wine Bar & Kitchen

One of the newest additions to the list of restaurants at Freshfields Village, this creative wine bar now offers a full menu alongside the 48 wines they always have available — on tap, that is! Have you never been here before? This is one of our “must try” experiences during your Kiawah Island vacation. They use an innovative wine-tap system where you get to “pour” your own glass of wine from the selection of choices made by their expert sommelier team. This way, you can try as many of the wines as you would like without needing to make a commitment to an entire bottle. Granted, if you find one you’re in love with, they have bottles available for purchase.

Have someone in your family or group that doesn’t like wine? They have you covered with a beer menu with 48 craft brews, all sourced from the South. Now, let’s get to the extensive options on the menu. You’ll find savory appetizers, cheese and charcuterie boards, along with signature entrees like Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, Shrimp and Grits, and a 6-ounce Filet Mignon. If you’re looking for something a bit lighter, you’ll also find flatbreads and sandwiches.

Cantina 76

Mexican-inspired taqueria with mouthwatering margaritas? Yes, please! Cantina 76 was a welcomed addition to the restaurants at Freshfields Village when it first opened in 2017. They specialize in creative, award-winning à la carte tacos and made-to-order margaritas in a casual, contemporary atmosphere. It just happens to be one of our favorite places to visit for enjoying a margarita on the outdoor patio while overlooking the Andell Lake.

We recommend starting with the sharable” Tres Hombres “drip sampler while you browse the selection of unique tacos. Fan favorites include the Peruvian shrimp taco with fried wild-caught Gulf shrimp, the BBQ brisket, and the Surf ‘n’ Turf. It’s not only tacos either; the menu also features enchiladas, fried chimichangas, and quesadillas. They also have weekly taco specials and a soup of the day. Photo credit: Cantina 76 Instagram.

La Tela Pizzeria

In the mood for wood-fired pizza and homemade Italian cuisine with an upscale, creative twist? La Tela is Freshfields Village’s Neapolitan pizzeria with a menu that will not disappoint! From a wide range of specialty pizzas and pastas to their signature dishes and grinders, everyone in your group will find something to fall in love with. The drink menu is just as impressive with craft beers, a carefully chosen international wine list, and inventive cocktails.

Plus, we love that everything is made in-house, from the dough for their pizzas to the pasta and sauces. They also believe in sourcing the finest ingredients available, which shows within their consistently high-quality dishes. As an insider tip, when you’re looking to try something new, check out their Quail Egg pizza — it has the perfect blend of evoo, pancetta, mozzarella, parmigiana region, pecorino romano, and cracked pepper.

Fuji Sushi Bar & Grill

Fuji offers authentic Japanese cuisine with an extensive selection of signature sushi rolls, traditional hibachi entrees, and innovative Asian fusion dishes! Here you will be welcomed into a laid-back atmosphere that’s perfect for either lunch or dinner with family and friends. The full bar has a great mixture of sake, wine, beer, and delicious cocktails. You’ll also find great weekly specials and a daily happy hour from 4pm to 7pm. Plus, this restaurant at Freshfields Village also has outside patio dining that overlooks the Andell Lake!

King Street Grille

Your local neighborhood sports bar is the third and final restaurant that overlooks the Andell Lake with multiple outdoor and indoor dining areas. As they like to say, you’ll find “great food, great beer and a great atmosphere” here! The vast menu with over 60 items and a wide selection of drinks will make it easy for everyone in your family or group to find something to enjoy. You’ll discover delicious options ranging from burgers, wings, pasta, sandwiches, steaks, and salads. And, if you need another reason to visit, King Street Grille has been voted “Best Sports Bar” for over a decade.

The Station Deli

Looking for a quick meal on the go? The Station Deli is the place to visit for breakfast and lunch. You’ll find breakfast burritos, sandwiches, grits, and hash browns to start your day with from daily 6:30am to 11am! Then, when it’s lunchtime, you have a few options. For a pick “pick me up,” there is a wide selection of packaged sandwiches, salads, and other items that are prepared fresh daily. And, you can also choose from made-to-order favorites like the famed Fried Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich, Certified Angus Burgers, and corned beef Reuben. Our best-loved snack of the day comes from here — hot fries covered in mixed cheeses, bacon, and ranch (aka their Bobby Fries).

Ladles Homemade Soups

Another fantastic place for lunch during your Kiawah Island visit, Ladles Homemade Soups is open daily from 11am to 6pm and has over 400 recipes that rotate daily. This locally owned restaurant at Freshfields Village also offers plenty of other options like burgers, sandwiches, hotdogs, and salads. One of our favorite sandwiches is their chicken salad that’s made in-house!

Vincent’s Soda Fountain

As soon as you walk through the door at Vincent’s Soda Fountain, you are transported back in time to an era where ice cream parlors were in fashion. This fun stop at Freshfields Village features an old-fashioned counter and bar stools where you can enjoy watching their Soda Jerks as they prepare your breakfast, lunch, and special treats.
